Moles are common in the Australian climate and can appear anywhere on the body. While some moles may raise medical concerns and require surgical excision and pathology review, others are assessed as non-suspicious and may be considered for cosmetic removal.
At Bella Complexion, mole removal is only performed following a thorough consultation and clinical assessment by a qualified health practitioner. In some cases, non-cancerous moles may be addressed using non-invasive laser techniques to reduce their appearance.
Treatment approaches, duration, and healing time can vary depending on individual skin type, lesion characteristics, and treatment area. A personalised plan will be provided after consultation.
Cosmetic Mole Removal
Following a clinical consultation, certain non-suspicious moles may be considered for removal for cosmetic reasons. In some cases, a qualified practitioner may use a laser or shave excision technique under local anaesthetic to reduce the raised appearance of the mole.
This approach does not typically require stitches and aims to minimise disruption to the surrounding skin. Healing outcomes can vary based on individual skin type and the size and depth of the lesion.
If there is any clinical concern regarding the mole, it may be sent for histopathology review to ensure safety and proper care.
Recovery
Following treatment, the area may resemble a superficial graze. A healing ointment is usually applied, and the surface skin often begins to repair within the first week. Mild redness or pinkness can be expected as part of the healing process and may persist for a few weeks.
As with all skin procedures, healing outcomes vary between individuals. Some patients may notice changes in pigmentation or texture during recovery. In rare cases, recurrence of the lesion may occur over time, and further assessment may be required. All risks, outcomes, and options will be discussed during your consultation.
